Marty Oard served in the US Coast Guard from 1984 to 2006 as a Naval engineer and served on three (3) ships, the Maintenance and Logistics Command Atlantic (specifications and depot level repairs) and Training Center Yorktown as the Engineering & Weapons School Chief. His final active Coast Guard assignment was at the Coast Guard Yard, where he served as Executive Officer. He is a graduate of the US Coast Guard Academy, May 1984, and has Masters Degrees in Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering and Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, May 1991, and an M.B.A. from the University of Maryland-University College, April 2006. Marty retired from active duty in June 2006. He started work at The McHenry Management Group in February 2022 as the VP of Coast Guard Programs after working for BMT Designers and Planners Inc for over 15 years.
