Steve Frazier brings over 36 years of engineering experience in the field of ship repair, shipboard HM&E test & trials and USCG/ INSURV inspections onboard commercial and Navy ships. He served as a Chief Test Engineer at Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY) for 10 years onboard nuclear aircraft carriers, nuclear submarines, LHAs and LHDs and was responsible for the HM&E Test Program. After NNSY, he moved to Military Sealift Command (MSC) as the Director of Engineering Fleet Compliance for 25 years where he was responsible for Ship Material Assessment & Readiness Test (SMART) inspections acting as the agent of PRESINSURV to ensure all MSC vessels were fit for further service. He was also responsible for government oversight during operating contract shipyards ensuring the government interests were protected. Steve acted as MSC’s Safety Director for all 130 vessels as well as responsible for MSC’s Safety Management System (SMS) for both ashore and afloat.
Steve started at The McHenry Management Group in September 2022 and currently serves as the Vice President of Shipbuilding and Commercial Services. In this role, he provides commercial shipyards waterfront engineering, design engineering (functional and detail), test and trials engineering, planning, production, and engineering management support. Steve graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy in 1988 with the BS in Mechanical and Marine Engineering.
